Ca oh 2 2 hno3

The reaction of calcium hydroxide and nitric acid is in valuable in chemistry. When calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) and nitric acid (HNO3) intersect, the two compounds react chemically to create calcium nitrate (Ca(NO3)2) and water (H2O). This is called the neutralization reaction because the acid chararacter of nitric acid is neutralized by the basic character of calcium hydroxide.

Studying the chemical characteristics of ca oh 2 2 hno3 or Ca(OH)2 and HNO3 can inform us why they behave as they do. It is sparingly soluble in water, with a Ksp of 5.5 × 10−6. It is widely used in industry in nitrating mixtures for the explosives industry and can be used in the preparation of petroleum esters and nitro derivatives of phenols. Nitric acid, however, is a strong acid, and it is a caustic substance. It is also the source of fertilizers, explosives, and numerous other chemicals.

Exploring the chemical properties of Ca(OH)2 and HNO3

Calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) and nitric acid (HNO3) react in a certain balanced ratio. The balanced equation for the reaction of Ca(OH) 2 with HNO 3 is:
