Primary antioxidant and secondary antioxidant in polymer

We use polymers like plastic in a whole lot of products that we use every day. They get turned into objects such as toys, bottles and even seats in cars. But did you come across the fact that polymers can degrade? This can weaken the polymer and make it less effective; a process called oxidation. That’s where Top Choosing Chemical antioxidants may play a role.

The primary antioxidant also regarded as the frontline defense in polymers. So they’re still works they just stop oxidation before it happens. Polymer, however, can be exposed to such things as heat, light, air, and oxidize. These harmful forces are such that they make the polymer strong and hard in the short term, while at the same time primary antioxidants protect the polymer against these degrading forces and make it tough and strong in the long term.

Exploring the importance of secondary antioxidants in prolonging polymer lifespan

Secondary antioxidants are the polymer’s Plan B. They come in where the first line has been overwhelmed and can’t stop oxidation. Secondary antioxidants retard the oxidation, the polymer maintains its life. That helps the polymer stay in good shape longer, which makes it last longer and work better.

And when a polymer is kissed by heat or light or air, it can begin to oxidize. This is the region at which the polymer starts to degrade and become weaker. Antioxidants have the same capacity, but can prevent it by modulating reaction rates of the oxidation. The primary antioxidant and secondary antioxidant protect the polymer from such deleterious agents and devices and maintain the properties and the strength and durability thereof.
