’t look it, but “calcium carbonate and calcium hydroxide” are two basic chemicals that are stupendously awesome at having fun with each other.
Calcium hydroxide and sodium carbonate are produced when calcium carbonate and sodium hydroxide are combined. This is a double displacement reaction; the ions in two compounds exchange places to produce two new compounds. In this case, calcium and sodium ions swap their partners to create two completely new partnerships.

Calcium carbonate is a white powdery substance which in its pure form is a rock or shell. It’s also in many things we use every day — toothpaste, antacids. The calcium carbonate and calcium oxide is a strong base, however, one that is often used in cleaning products and manufacturing. The two are mixed, and they combine, reacting to create a powerful solution with countless applications.

It is also one of the largest applications of sodium carbonate. The blend of the two chemicals is used to get rid of impurities out of the narrows in paper manufacturing to produce a higher grade product. It is also applicable for making glass, and used to remove bubbles from the glass by making the end-product more transparent.

It is also applied in water treatment calcium carbonate slaked lime plants to adjust the pH of drinking water. They can neutralize acidic or basic compounds by diluting this solution with water, and turn the water into drinkable water. And this method of treatment can also aid purifying the water from heavy metals and some other impurities, enough to drink the water.
