Aluminum sulfate plus calcium hydroxide

A combination of aluminum sulfate and calcium hydroxide is an interesting pair of chemicals that when mixed together do something quite powerful. So, let’s discuss the interaction between these two types of substances, and discuss the relevance of both in various industries.

The chemical reaction of aluminum stearate and calcium hydroxide sounds confusing, but the reaction is really simple. When the two are mixed, a double displacement reaction occurs. This is when the positive ions ones compound change places with the positive ions ones the other compound and 2 new substances are formed.

A closer look at the properties of aluminum sulfate and calcium hydroxide

Now, a deeper look at the properties of aluminum sulfate and calcium hydroxide explains their perfect reaction match. Aluminum sulfate is a white crystalline solid that is also soluble in mineral acids, glycerol, and a number of other agents, including water, with which it forms a slaked lime. On the contrary, calcium hydroxide is a powder which is only soluble to a limited extent in water. In combination with the aluminum sulfate, the calcium hydroxide reacts to form a more stable and balanced solution, and this allows acid and base-loving microorganisms to already find a living space within the applied slurry.
